Matij Pervan is a medical doctor from Split, Croatia, who graduated from the University of Split School of Medicine in 2024. He was awarded the Dean’s Award for Best Student Research Paper in 2022 and has collaborated with a wide range of stakeholders in advancing health promotion, medical education, and students access to research. During his medical studies, he served as Vice President for External Affairs of the Croatian Medical Students’ International Committee, as a peer education trainer in medical education and mental health with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), and later as a member of IFMSA’s Supervising Council.

He gained international research experience as a visiting researcher at Amsterdam UMC within the Health Systems and Services Research group, focusing on healthcare workforce sustainability in South Eastern Europe. With extensive NGO and governance experience, he has contributed to projects in capacity building, democratic governance, and health system strengthening. His research and professional interests include healthcare workforce sustainability and planning, health system performance measurement, and the role of digital health technologies in improving health system outcomes.

With a combined background in medicine, research, and the NGO sector, Matij brings an interdisciplinary perspective to health system strengthening, bridging clinical knowledge, public health practice, and policy-oriented research. His career goal is to contribute to more sustainable, equitable, and evidence-informed health systems, both within the European region and globally.
