Ekavi Vlachou is a healthcare professional with a background in nursing and a Master’s in Health Economics, Policy and Management from the Karolinska Institute. Her work focuses on health technology assessment, health outcomes, and improving the quality of healthcare services.

She has contributed to the Hellenic Health Technology Assessment and Reimbursement Committee (Greek Ministry of Health) as an external evaluator, reviewing clinical data and economic evidence to support evidence-based reimbursement decisions. She has also worked as a research assistant at the University of Thessaly, engaging in data analysis, academic writing, and policy research in health and nursing studies.

Ekavi’s master’s research, conducted under the Magnet4Europe initiative, examined how internal governance and professional autonomy influence nurses’ job satisfaction and retention in Swedish hospitals. She is passionate about connecting research and policy to strengthen healthcare systems and promote better health outcomes for patients and professionals alike. 

During her PhD, Ekavi will develop and test indicators to measure how well healthcare services are integrated across different levels of care in Slovenia. Her research will focus on linking and analyzing national health data to assess coordination, quality, and outcomes within the Slovenian health system.

Through her work, she hopes to contribute to more equitable, efficient, and patient-centred health systems across Europe.
